crochet for cleaning

After spending a solid 2 hours cleaning my house (this is the problem when you have 3 bathrooms and a miss tillie who draws on all the walls), my mind turned to crocheted dishcloths…..you might remember I did this cute cloth for my little ones and they now have a few we use for bathtime….keira calls this one her princess cloth!

so after my cleaning I checked out the Lily sugar n cream website which has so many new free patterns and now I have a sudden urge to get crocheting cloths again….I mean how cute are these cloths below!

I’m not so sure I’ll use them for my cleaning but how cute are they and I can tell you from personal experience that they are ever so quick to whip up. Plus they just go through the clothes washer and dryer with no problems too. So I hope you’ll get crocheting some cloths too……

  1. Ooh cleaning walls – Miss Tillie might be an artist when she grows up. I remember having to wash red texta off my walls and floors when Isabelle was tiny as she had found one in Lachlan’s room and thought it was wonderful to do whilst I went to the bathroom for 2 mins! Those crochet cloths look wonderful!

  2. How cute!!!! they look adorable you have a very good talent retromummy

  3. Damn, I can’t crochet! But if you come across any good knitting patterns for free, can you post that on your blog too? I like finding nice patterns to make:)

  4. Oh i love that Tillie, she’s too adorable!! Can’t see the images, as my internet speed is on 1999 go slow thanks to children using up usage – see the things you have to look forward to, games & research x 4 children, forget about your business web needs!! Hugs, love Posie

  5. they are great for cleaning! I’m stlll using sugar n cream crochet dishlcloths I made a decade ago! They’re starting to show wear but only just. The crochet ones have great texture for scrubbing! Ok, maybe not a roasting pan, but other stuff, sure!

  6. Two hours cleaning! Ack you poor thing. Now you need to settle down with a cup of tea and a plate of macarons 😉

  7. Teach the kids how to clean! Give them a dishcloth each! 😛

  8. I’ve just taught myself recently to crochet and it’s so addictive, not to mention reasonably kid/craft friendly if you don’t mind the odd yank of yarn now and then. Thanks for the link. Sounds like a good idea.

  9. You’re cleaning and crochet and general creativity is making me feel very lazy!

  10. Ohhh they are way too cute to clean with, Corrie!

  11. I use these cloths all the time for dishwashing. It seems in the warm weather they start to smell musty very quickly. I heard that you can put them in a bowl of water in the microwave for 3 minutes to eliminate the odor. IT WORKS!!

  12. Omg, I love that denim looking one!

  13. I love my crocheted face and dishcloths!
I didn’t know you made your own, was before I discovered you by the looks though.
I haven’t made any specifically for cleaning but do have an ever increasing stash for dishes and I love to make facewashers for us all. the kids love the star ones I’ve made.

  14. I love that site too for the freebies. Just gotta get through that ever growing pile of to-knits. Do you use 100% cotton or a blend. Believe it or not, that is what is holding me up from commencing my wash cloth fetish. BTW, thinking of you now that you are on the home stretch for bubs arrival. xx Fi
