Travis

What happened to Travis? I was on youtube listening to a song (as you do) and thought you know who I haven’t heard in ages and loved. Travis

I was 24 and going through a few boyfriends when I loved Travis. I love how a song just takes you back as if you are right there in the  moment. I love that! Ok, just one more song.

Tell me did you love Travis? Oh I did!

  1. Before we went to Europe on our honeymoon, my research told me the rental cars usually still had tape decks in them (okay, I have been married for a while now) so I made up tapes with our favourite songs to play on our long drives. Of course when we arrived, our car had a CD player. So in the mountains in Cortina, Italy we found a little shop that sold some CDs and I chose a ‘various artists’ one. It happened to have Travis’ “Sing” on it and we played that CD over and over and over again as we drove across the beautiful Dolomites and up through Austria, and so that song will always remind me of the mountains and driving and fresh air and my husband next to me. I still have the CD, and a horror of losing it, as it could never be replaced.

    Thanks for the memory!

  2. Ahhh – love Travis. I watched a TV series in the UK years ago called William & Mary and they played why does it always rain on me at a funeral. Sooo made me cry! Love the song. :)

  3. So strange to read this now – only a week or so ago I was thinking exactly that! I also loved those two songs and always wondered what happened to them. Thanks for sharing!

  4. The first song reminds me of listening to the radio on the bus on the way to school :)I think it used to be played a fair bit.

  5. I have their songs on high rotation on my iPod – my favourite? A live version of Britney Spears’ “Baby one more time” Hilarious!!

  6. Driftwood was my favorite Travis song. I remember playing that one song over & over. Beautiful lyrics I could really relate to at that stage in my life.

  7. I loved Travis! My favourite song was Side. They are such a great band. I just Wikipedia’d them and they are still going strong, having just announced a tour!! Thanks for the flashback – I’ve got them playing on youtube now! Speaking of which my other half and I had a youtube session last night with the likes of Nick Kershew!! Gotta love the 80’s!! : )

  8. I lived them too & saw them perform in Cardiff. Fran Healy has recently been supporting Brandon Flowers’ on tour (lead singer of The Killers). good to hear he’s still out there singing!

  9. i did use to love travis and i think i completely forgot about them, thanks for reminding me! xx

  10. Hmmm. Nope. I think that era was probably covered with John Farnham (I went to see him in concert), Celine Dion and whatever was on the radio at the time.

  11. We listen to Travis loads, my kids love them and there is something just so fantastically Scottish about them that they make us feel a little bit homesick! There are some cd’s that I get sick of very quickly in the car but never Travis.

  12. OH YES! I was living in Edinburgh, Scotland. An aussie backpacking lass, with my boyfriend (who is now the husband) and the bar we hung out in (well ‘worked’ in actually) used to play SO MUCH TRAVIS, and after a pint or two or three we’d all be the best singers of all songs ‘travis’. Best sang really loud with your hand on your heart, and your arm draped over your co-singer’s shoulder, with a scottish accent. Oh, take me back to those days….

  13. Hmm, never heard of Travis (well, except the one I married!). Thanks for the videos…great music!

  14. Travis ROCK! I loved Why Does it always Rain on me, such a beautiful song with clever lyrics. I often sing that song to myself, now I’ll happily go off to bed humming the tune :o)

  15. Travis remind me of being 17 and meeting my husband…and moping because I wasn’t yet going out with him. Great moping and smiling music, still frequently listened to on my iPod! x
