my new kitchen

You’ve been asking me what has happened to our country plans. And I can report that we’re staying. The reality of spending weeknights away from retro daddy and if his job changed and he was no longer interstate during the week, leaving friends, changing schools and other long term considerations mean we are staying. My family and friends are happy. Even my hairdresser said she was glad I wasn’t going!

I love this one as it’s large and would definitely be the heart of the home!

but don’t think retro daddy got off lightly. Oh no! I have been clear that I need to do some of the work on  this house to keep me happy. And after getting disappointed that I couldn’t find someone to give me my dream kitchen. I found it. This is it. A company in Sydney whose portfolio is exactly what I’m looking for. Exactly. So I see this kitchen below with more cupboards extending to the left of the picture.  This really sums up where I would be happy to cook. And it suits the layout we are working with.

OK well it will actually require the removal of 2 walls and an ensuite but will give us a space to cook, eat, hang out, watch tv – all while looking out over the pool. This is what we envisaged when we bought  the house and we have decided we need to make those visions come true. If someone wants to come and buy the house because it looks so amazingly spectacular after the kitchen goes in then so be it. Now the fun of getting quotes and seeing if we can make it happen.

  1. I was wondering what you were doing. A new kitchen is a fabulous compromise. Perhaps a holiday home is required :p were toying with the idea ourselves

  2. How could I not LOVE that kitchen!!!! Can I come over and cook too!?

  3. That kitchen is AMAZING! I so hope it all goes ahead for you :)

  4. That would be a spectacular kitchen! Given the size of this kitchen, storage wouldn’t seem to be an issue, but generally, when I look at this style of cupboard, I always find myself looking at the empty space above the cupboards and thinking about all the stuff I could stash there if there were another row of doors!

  5. love the kitchen Corrie, I have just pinned it to my dream home on Pinterest! xx

  6. Oh Corrie, Thats so so exciting xx Hope you dreams can come true.. and Quickly! xx Bec

  7. Is that 2 kitchens? I’m confused? Either way, I like them both and I need to do what you’re doing too plus a new bathroom, laundry, and 2nd storey…. It’s too daunting!!

  11. Stunning kitchen.
Makes me want to go back to designing just so that I could design your dream kitchen Corrie. I used to work for WK Marble and Granite and the head office is in Padstow if you’re after some amazing marble or granite for your bench top. I know they also do kitchens. Might be worth a look.

  12. If only you lived in So. California, my friend Corbin would be the perfect kitchen contractor for you!!

  13. I’m sad you couldn’t make your country getaway, but maybe when the time is right an opportunity will come up. It really us a huge and hard decision especially with so many gorgeous little ones to consider! Love the life you have xxxx

  14. How exciting, even though mine is years away I am madly planning so can not wait to see your finished product

  15. That top kitchen is ‘it’ for me! I am so lucky I have a very similar layout and it is heaven, I wouldn’t change a thing, except it is not white, and it is very modern. We bought this house already finished but brand new 3 years ago. But now my kids are getting older and we are wanting more space we (or I) having been looking at land in the country. After our school holidays I am even going to check out the schools, etc. of a nearby country town. You are right, there is soooo many things to take in to consideration. Mainly jobs and schools. But this is THE KITCHEN i want for that ‘one day’ countyr house. I really need the pantry (that is the only thing missing in my current kitchen. It really is no good having large platters in your walk in robe!
