not another knitting book

Well I had a $10 voucher for a large craft store burning a hole in my pocket and expiring today. I have to say large craft store because when I mention names you write in to tell me I should be shopping at little independent craft stores. Which I do but I also shop closest to home and where I can handle my 4 little ones with me. So off I went today for some embroidery threads and look what I came home with….

amongst other things of course. A sweet new baby knitting book from Patons. I keep looking at the big blue eyes of the model and imagining my little elodie wearing that sweet little outfit. It’s a little raglan sleeve cream jumper (some of you might call it a sweater) with pink polka dots and little pink leggings to match. Too cute. It had to come home with me and the book is called Little Sweeties. Perfect for my own little sweetie.

back of my new book
However, with the number of baby knitting books I have – I’ll need to have about 10 more children just to get through them. I hope my little ones grow up to have lots of babies – actually just some quick maths for you – if they had 3 children each that does give me 12 grandchildren.  So there you go, no need to worry.  I am sure to be one happily knitting grandma using her 30 year old knitting books. But I’ll get back to raising my 4 children first before I think about grandchildren.

  1. I also collect knitting books, new and old, and love going through them. My aim is to always be a better knitter, I have heaps to practice with! I’ll keep an eye out for this one! Those little pants are gorgeous! And you’ve gotta love Spotlight!

  2. I used my voucher too today. I re-stocked some dmc threads and some wool that was on special, got to love a free voucher. I shop local too

  3. That’s what I call forward planning :D! I collect all sorts of craft books and have groaning shelves to prove it but I don’t think I have the years left to complete even one project from each – well maybe there is a challenge I can start…?

  4. Gorgeous! I love the nappy cover! Now you’ve got me itching to buy it…

  5. don’t worry – that’s not as bad as me. I own several knitting books…and I don’t even know how to knit!!

  6. I want to learn how to knit so I can make those things for my future babies, future grandchildren and future great-grandchildren.

Those little spotted pants melt my heart! x

  7. Don’t worry about using an old knitting book, my nana does that for my girls (her great-grandchildren) and we receive lots of comments on the beautiful cardigans she’s made for them… Classic handknitted items will always be a hit for littlies :)

  8. Oh I saw the same gorgeous book at Lincraft yesterday but thought I had enough patterns so put it back on the shelf. I can just imagine you knitting in 30 years time for all your grandchildren.

  9. I am a brand new (and I mean brand new!) knitter. I finally got the process down pat last night and I LOVE KNITTING…I am hooked (ha ha knitting humor) I crochet, sew, applique, quilt embroider (you get the idea) but for years could not knit….Anyway, do you have a suggestion for a easy pattern for me to do first? I can do the knit (garter but you know that!) and purl stitch and now I am not sure where to start!

  10. Can’t believe I lost my voucher to the same big craft store!! I was planning on picking up some embroidery thread too :( Wish i could knit properly, but scarves are about all I can manage.

  11. Oh hey cool. Nice book. You just reminded me that I’ve got a Cleckheaton book and I’ve been searching for the perfect newborn hat. Now time for some yarn shopping?
