breaking the craft book diet

One of the first crafts I took up and really enjoyed was cross stitch. I spent many a late night during my university holidays doing cross stitch. It was portable, easy and fun and my mum got me onto it when they were living overseas to keep me from shopping! Ha, that was obviously a temporary measure (retro daddy would agree) but it was the early start of another addiction…….CRAFT! The last time I did some cross stitch was almost 2 years ago when I was stitching a russian doll that remains unfinished (oh the story of my life and my craft projects.). And because I obviously have loads of time for cross stitch I just ordered a new cross stitch book for my library.

I think it breaks the craft and book diet but thankfully doesn’t break the food diet. I can stitch sweet little goodies to my hearts content. I just think that the designs are so fresh and lovely and  the french just know how to do cross stich so well. I adore my other Made in France cross stitch book so much and I know I will love this one. In fact as soon as I discovered it online I ordered it in a flash. And until then I’ll be stalking the postman for it’s arrival.

And remember, all care taken no responsibility accepted. If you want to buy the book I didn’t tell you about it! I am not responsible for you breaking your craft or book diet either. No sir, not me. Could you imagine if our long suffering husbands/boyfriends/loved ones got together in a room to talk about craft addictions…. what do you think they would say?

  1. You’re so funny — really, you clearly have toooo much time on your hands. Perhaps you should try this on RetroDaddy….”Sweetheart, I’m just so sorry I had to buy another book. But this one is SOOOO adorable and ever since Elodie was born, well, you know …. I’ve just been sitting around with nothing to dooooo. Maybe we should have another baby or MORE to keep me busy. What do you think DARLING????”

And oh, those cross-stitch cupcakes — they’re beautiful!

  2. You are so restrained referring to it as ‘addiction’ CK just calls it all my ‘art crap’!

  3. They say that tallented person is tallented in everything. I see they are right. You can do everything… may be ypu have spare hands?:)
or additional hours in the day :)

  4. Ack! Should I thank you or not? 😉
This looks amazing. LOVE the cupcakes.

  5. What’s worse than being a craft addict, being married to one – if it were just the men they’d never let on but the kids would tell all, I’m sure…:D

  6. That is so neat.It looks like a good book.

  7. That looks so sweet!!!

    I think I’d rather be a craft addict than a food addict… maybe.x

  8. Cross stitch was my first craft love too. I always had a project on the go and usually at hand wherever I went – particularly uni lectures when I am sure I was supposed to be doing something else. Thank goodness I am a woman and capable of listening and stitching at the same time.

  9. so funny- when i was losing the baby weight last time i bought myself these :)

perhaps this time around i might actually get my sweet treats quilt made!

  10. Aren’t they just divine cross-stitches! This was one of my very first crafts to do as a teenager and my daughter has one of them in her bedroom that I did many years ago. I feel a new desire to get back into it after looking at these goodies and I’m getting hungry too!!

  11. Well I blew my “I’m not buying another craft/food book” promise yesterday! 2 crochet and 2 cook books – now I am giddy with excitement until the mail arrives. What would I do without Book Depository??? I’ve not normally attracted to cross stitch patterns – but these are divine! have a great day! C x

  12. Ooh, Corrie. I could kiss your feet! Thanks for the tip. Cross-stitch is my craft and I adore my ‘Made in France’ book as well. Now this one is on my wish list, too. I hope you paid $17.99 at the Book Depository for it! J x

  13. What a yummy book! On my list!!!

  14. Off to google ‘book depository’…..

  15. Cross stitch is also my first crafting love… currently have 3 unfinished projects and a new kit bought last week (oops did I say that out loud!) Please to not know what my husband would say about that one! Luckily its one of the things he says he loves so much… my absolute addiction and love of all things crafty… that and a new found blogging addiction! X

  16. I am so bad at starting epic plans for craft projects and then just not having the time. But I do have plans! 😉 you have such a sweet blog here! Lovely!~~

  17. Oh, I’ve been feeling so much like doing some cross stitch lately – this does it!
