Quilting group

Just after the twins were born I found a quilting group just around the corner from me. It’s run by a lovely lady called Wendy, you just bring along your own work, sit down and quilt. They are a lovely bunch of ladies and I’m not sure what we talk about for 2 hours but there is always a lot of talking and lots of friendly discussions to join in on.

So after a 2 year absence I rejoined the group on monday night, I was a bit late as I had to get littlest miss asleep before I was ‘allowed’ to leave home. But it was great to just forget about everything going on right now and do some hexagons. I’m going to try to make it a regular babysitting time with retro daddy and maybe, just maybe, I will get my grandmothers flower garden quilt finished. Some people do yoga or meditation…………I craft!

I’ve been using charm square packs for my hexagons and so far have used Hunky Dory, Verna, Bliss and Oliver & S! I still have about 15 hexagon flowers to go but I’m making progress…………..slowly but surely.

oh and you’ll also find me today over at seven cherubs………..I just love large family blogs like Naomi’s because I think 4 is tough so I don’t know how you do 7!

  1. That sounds like a lot of fun and very relaxing Corrie! You deserve some of that.

  2. I’m always working on my hexies.. Mine are a decidedly darker version, maroons and reds and golden yellow and greens, and white. I also did a creative pattern.. I have to say though. I love the happy fabrics that you chose.. they make me smile! They just have a good feeling to them.

  3. Tus hijos son preciosos y las telas de tus hexagonos son bellisimas , me encanta ese jardín de la abuela….mis oraciones para tu mamá
    un gran abrazo

  4. I love that pink floral fabric of the uppermost hexagon. It almost looks like smiley faces!

Ever where I go at the moment I see hexagons… I think someone is trying to tell me something (that I should start making some hexagons!)

  5. Your stitching is invisible! I love your hexies and need to get back to mine, they are addicting.

  6. I joined a sewing group just before xmas and tomorrow night we are learning to quilt…so looking forward to it :)

  10. It was lovely to read that you’ve found some special *me* time amongst all the crazy stuff that you’ve had going on. I started making hexies a couple of nights ago and I find them really relaxing to do. I’m doing a pillow to start with, but my dream it to one day complete a quilt!
I’m only doing 1″ hexies for the pillow, but I think I might need to upsize that quite a bit for the quilt – or else I’ll be stitching forever..
Loving your fabric choices by the way :)
