country cousins

Retro daddy is one of 7 children and with all of the husbands and wives and kids it makes for a big family (and I love it!). We are the only ones who live outside Victoria but I do love a good get together and especially to let keira get to know her cousins. So Julie and I organised a little park playdate while they were up in Sydney.

We had to meet halfway as Sydney is such a big city so we headed out west to Parramatta Park. Keira was so excited to get the chance to really get out there on her Barbie bike and the twinnies went nuts amongst the tambark. Less than 2 minutes at the park and I realised dressing them head to toe in black would have been a good idea as that tambark was m-e-s-s-y. Napisan here I come….what I was thinking putting Finn in a light coloured rugby top, well I don’t know!

It was such a great photo opportunity to have 5 little cousins together but the twins are so hard to keep still and look at the camera and smile but we got there (with a little help and guidance from the adults!)

We gave the kids a really good run around playing chaseys (which ensured my lot slept on the way home) and then we said our goodbyes.

It was a great morning out and so nice to catch up. I wish Julie lived closer so we could craft and go fabric shopping together, but I’ll see her again at the quilt trade show in November which will be here in no time…………….

  1. I love big families and having kids the same age as siblings is just gold. What great time the littlies are having.

    We adore our cousins too!

  2. Super cute!! Wait until your children come home with that bark all over their school clothes & in their socks & pockets, i have a tonne of it in a bag in my laundry!! Big families rock, my 4 have 19 first cousins & everyone gets alone nicely, no weirdo cousins in that generation (unlike my generation). Even better, their 19 cousins range from 21 down to 4 so lots of diversity, from play mates to babysitters!! Oh, when we’re in NSW of course, we’re the interstaters as well!! Lovely day, love Posie

  3. Just gorgeous, Corrie. My husband is one of 6 so we have 17 cousins. You’re right – getting everyone in the same place at the same time is really hard. You have to savour every moment when they’re together, don’t you? J x

  4. I am in all kinds of love with Tillie in that last pic! <3 Looks like a fab time! My girls have 2nd cousins in Port MacQuarie (they are teenagers) and one in Albury (we've never met and their first cousins are same age as our twins (4.5 - born the same month!) and 2.5... with another little one due in 8 weeks! ALL THE COUSINS are GIRLS!

  5. Awwww <3 Beautiful! I love when all the cousins get together! I have a grown up family, so we have the "big" cousins (21 to 26 and the first getting married in October) and then we have the "little" cousins (which is our 9 and under group) .. My sister had their children together and then my brother and I had ours together! They (the cousins) just LOVE IT!!! great times had, thank you so much for sharing!!!

  6. Roll on November….
This year I’ll bring along a trolley with wheels for you if you like !

  7. Aww they look like they’re having a ball together! 😀

  8. Looks like a lovely day – I wish my kids had more cousins

  9. Great pics, what a lovely play they all had. I wish we were closer too.
So nice to be home, we are all very tired. Lots of pics to go through tomorrow. The wedding was lovely.
    Love to all. xxx
