escaping to Country Living

In the last week or so, this pregnancy has really been catching up on me. At home we are calling it the fastest pregnancy on record as it is flying by. But now the 14kgs I have gained (did I just say that!) is slowing me down. I pretty much count down the hours till it is acceptable to put on my jammies and dressing gown and plonk myself down somewhere and not move again. And one of my favourite things to do is to grab a big pile of magazines and a cup of peppermint tea. Pretty magazines are my weakness (one of my weaknesses).

At the moment I am loving the August issue of Notebook (ha ha, of course I am) and the British Edition of Country Living. My newsagent sells the magazine the month after it is released in the UK for $8.95 which is so reasonable for an overseas mag and I just love it. I love the interiors, homewares and pretty china….

the beautiful english country gardens and the pretty pictures of roses (shame I’ve had no luck growing them in my garden)…

and of course I love the recipes. You can find the recipe for these very sweet fondant fancies here……

So what is your favourite magazine??????

  2. I love reading Donna Hay especially the Kids issue and also Home Beautiful. I also have just started buying Notebook too!! I love your Blog.

  3. I would buy so many magazines if I could!
I love Grass Roots, Homespun, Inspirations and Australian Country style (to narrow it down)
Take care of yourself, I know what it’s like to be exhausted with no. 4 on the way.

  4. Me too, me too! I love Country Living magazine – it’s my lovely escape to the British countryside each month. I totally immerse myself in it and dream a little. x

  5. Good to hear! Notebook, Australian Country Style and Home Beautiful are my current faves. Finding the time to read them is such a luxury with little ones running around, isn’t it?

  6. It is funny to read this post today! My sister came by this afternoon and I had my recent magazine purchases on the coffee table – Notebook and the British Country Living! We talked about retromummy :) and Notebook and she commented on Country Living as she hadn’t seen it before. My issue is May, so I’d better head out to the newsagent tomorrow! I also get Country Style. They are my three guilty pleasures each month…

  7. I love Country Living – bought that one yesterday. That would be my favourite along with Vanity Fair.

  8. Hi Corrie! I have been following your blog for quite some time now, but I don´t think I have posted a comment until now. I love to read your posts and LOVE the pictures. We don´t get too many nice magazines around here, so I love it when you guys post pictures of the magazines you buy.
Your kids are so cute!!!! My mom doesn´t read english but also enjoys the pictures and what I read to her about you and the kids.
You are welcome to visit my blog anytime. It is in Spanish, but there is a translator on the right side (I hate the way it translates but I don´t have the time to do it myself. Anyway I do write and read English if anybody has questions or comments).
I understand the way you feel right now with your pregnancy. I gained 23 kilos with both my kids!!!! Please, do relax and enjoy this last stage….try to get as much sleep as you can.
    Greetings from Argentina!!!!

  9. Australian Country Style is my favourite. Love it! but honestly I love all of the ‘housy’ mags.
The British Country Living looks great – I’ll have to give it a look.
    Take care.

  10. I adore Australian Country Style and Real Living. My style lies somewhere in between.

  11. Hi! I got excited for a minute when I read the title of your post, I thought you were moving out west to the country near us, haha :-) I thought, gee, she mut have pregnancy brain, leaving the city!! My favourite mag at the moment is Oxygen, a fitness magazine. Homespun is my 2nd fav. Enjoy the rest before no.4 arrives.

  12. Hi Corrie, great pictures – remember to enjoy all of those rests before no 4 arrives – must be hard to find time with 3 littlies already though :)

  13. Oooh yes, magazines are one of my little indulgences.. I buy Notebook, Real Living and Frankie and occasionally Country Style (just to indulge my fantasy of moving to a country estate one day!)

  14. Magazines are my weakness! I was so obsessed with them I ended up working in the industry! Love country living, notebook, real living, homespun, Frankie, home beautiful… Could go on!

  15. I love Notebook magazine, and have recently discovered Frankie magazine, but my most favourite and coveted magazine is Family Circle – the special editions 3 times a year are highly prized, especially the Christmas issue!

  16. Sigh … just the thought of sitting down to read a mag is enough for me (well, not quite!). My ultimate fav is InsideOut but a recent stay in hospital with my fellow saw me reading everything from Country Style (another fav) to Notebook (went off that but the picture of the sewing machine – same as mine – got me in this time 😉 and Dumbo feather pass it on. I buy magazines for the “promise” they hold of a time when I might be able to sit down, feet up with a cup of tea! Wishing many more HOURS of magazine reading for you!

  17. Where would we be without our magazines for inspiration? My favourite is UK Country Living and UK Red. I also love that particular issue you have featured here. Sometimes Country Living is worth it for the cover photography alone. And in Australia I like Frankie, Peppermint, Real Living, Inside Out and Notebook. The current Notebook is where I saw your Blog! xx
