first knit of the season

well it’s been a little chilly in sydney lately so I got out the needles and a skein of lovely handspun merino from lush yarn…..from the big basket I won at the last stitches and craft show! Wow that was a good prize!

lush yarns

I cast on 16 stitches and am doing a simple seed stitch of k1, p1 for the pattern which gives it a nice knobbly look and shows off the pretty colours and texture of the handspun.

I figured if I eased myself into a scarf then I can get stuck into the next projects on my to do list which include a pink crossover top for keira’s ballet classes, a whisper cardigan for myself and hoodies for the twinnies!

  1. I love the pattern that you are using I’m trying to do the same for a dishcloth but I’m still getting the hang of it. I’m mostly just plain knit but I’m just learning to pearl at the moment. I’ll have to give it another go I haven’t had much luck with it lately.:)

  2. Corrie – I love that wool!! Such beautiful colours. I am very tempted to start knitting again…pity my creativity with knitting is limited to scarves and booties!!! LOL
Enjoy the knitting and the cooler weather.
    xx

  3. good lord – where do you find time? Have you trained yourself to knit with your feet while your hands are sewing? 😉

    Looks divine!

  4. Yes, it’s definitely getting cooler and I cannot wait to get my wool and merino scarves out soon! I love winter cloths:)

I like the colours of the merino you are using:) really pretty!

  5. The wool looks gorgeous knitted into the moss stitch Corrie. Does that mean that you will slow down on your sewing projects over winter if your going to do lots of knitting, although if I remember you are fast at knitting Keira’s clothes. What hoodie pattern are you knitting up for the twins.

  6. I didn’t know that you can knit as well as everything else! Too clever!

  7. Pretty yarn! Just as you’re starting to get a bit chilly there, we finally had a beautiful sunny week in the 60’s here. Happy knitting:)

  8. I love those whisper cardigans!

  9. Oh how pretty! I love the colors in the yarn and what a perfect way to show them off!

  10. That’s a ovely pattern and pretty wool too!

  11. Oh my sister (the ballerina) always had mummy knitted cross over knits, they were beautiful. Oh, little ballerinas . . . my girls make sweet ones. Love Posie

  12. Lovely wool Corrie. I also have begun my first knit of the season (should I say my first knit since my teens!!!) You’ve often blogged about Debbie Bliss so I took your advice and borrowed a book from the library. I’ve found a really pretty yet simple cardigan I’m going to make for my little poppet. Good to see you’re knitting. That means you’re sitting down and resting up while your body goes about growing a little person! Hope all is well :)

  13. I love it when the cool weather comes around so I can get back into a bit of wool.

  14. The yarn is scrummy, and looks so soft. Will be lovely around the neck.
You will be knitting like a demon shortly – with your feet up of course!!!

  15. Ahh..Corrie you are always such an inspiration! Your plans for a whisper cardigan have me intrigued. It looks like a lovely project.

  16. What a lovely yarn that is… It looks like it will be a gorgeous scarf!! Happy knitting :)

  17. wow that scarf looks like its in a fairytale. I love the pattern and materal you used . i wish i could do something like that.

  18. WOW I WISH I COULD DO SOMTHING LIKE THAT

  19. WOW WHAT LOVELY WOOL. I WISH I COULD DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT.

  20. it is so great to knit if you have the good wool )))

  21. Thank you for inspiring me to pull out my needles. When the weather is still in the high 20’s in Melbourne, you can find it hard to be inspired.

  22. MMMMMM looks so yummy!
I have had the whisper in my Ravelry queue for quite a while. I think you have just given me the push I need to cast on!
