a skirt for winter

last winter I didn’t make as many clothes for my little ones as I would have liked, I was just so busy with the twins! This winter I’d like to make more and buy less (as it was an expensive winter for retro daddy)…so I stocked up on some denim recently for $10 a metre to try out a few things…here is the first…

new denim skirt

I do love the little red ruffle trim….it’s so perfect! Of course keira took one look at it and went ‘oh no mummy it’s not pink’……ahhh you can’t win! But I am thinking a little knitted red bolero and white long sleeve tee will make it the perfect outfit!

  1. What a cute skirt – I love the ruffle!

  2. yes and red tights. Lovely

  3. Heehee, you can tell she doesn’t like it, no posing!! Pinnies are great, too, quick and easy to make and good for layering over tights and skivvies!

  4. oh no she does love it now that she’s been wearing it! I tried to get some cute modelling pics but she was too busy moving around today!!!!

  5. it’s beautiful, great combination of colours.

  6. You just can’t beat denim with red :)

  7. OH no, denim, red & white is a fabulous combination, tell Keira the red & white mix in her imagination to make pink – mind games Corrie MIND GAMES!! Love Posie

  8. The skirt is cute – I picked up yet another Burda Mag from the library today and it has the cutest cord dress in it and a skirt – am going to make those for Amelia this year:)

  9. Lovely little outfit. I’m sure a little red yoyo hairclip wouldn’t go astray. I agree with beccasaurus…pinnies are fab! Love the idea of the bolero. :)

  10. Love it Corrie! As you know I have a girl with a “it’s not pink” issue too – and she’s 7, so you might have more of that ahead!

  11. Denim with red and white is a super combination. I can imagine it with a little knitted bolero! It is super cute.

  12. That’s a pretty skirt. I love the ruffle.

Thank you for your comment about my stitches. I am getter better. Hope to hear from you again soon.

  13. She is such a cutie.. And always looks so good in your creations..

  14. Lovely. they do grow out of the pink stage. Miss Nine was very happy to receive a green wallet/change purse for Christmas, and her cousin, Miss Seven, now loves yellow. This is the girl who when asked what colour socks she would like said, “Any colour, grandma, so long as it’s pink.”

Denim is so practical for children’s wear. Lots of good overalls for little Finn, perhaps with some cuff binding or applique pockets from some of your beautiful boy fabric?

I went shopping to chemist after Ash Wednesday Eucharist yesterday morning to be reminded I had a dirty mark on my forehead. Did Keira tell you the same?

  15. How fun to have a little pink girl! The skirt is adorable — guess she’ll just have to have ANOTHER one LOL!
