dreaming of gingerbread houses

Oh dear, I can’t stop thinking about this super cute gingerbread house in the latest issue of Crochet Today. The issue hasn’t made it out to Australia yet but don’t you just love it!

so cute and deliciously sweet without a calorie in sight! I’m wondering if I have enough time (or the skill) to whip it up before Christmas as I haven’t stopped thinking about it and its cuteness! I might need my mum, queen of crochet, to step in!!!

  1. oh Corrie! That is sooo sweet!! You have to give it a go. I am going to attempt a real gingerbread house this year (well, attempt number 2, but we won’t go there!!!) But at least that one you can pull out again year after year without all the hassle!

  2. Oh how gorgeous Corrie. I actually thought it was a lolly one until I looked at the normal sized photo of it. You will have to give it a go and think what a wonderful family heirloom it will be in years to come. Maybe your mum and you can make it a joint effort or maybe make 2, one for each of you.

  3. Wow! That is amazing!! I thought it was actually gingerbread hehe! You totally need to do this. Maybe even a long term project where you add to it year after year xox

  4. Corrie, that is adorable! We always make a gingerbread house but because of the beat and humidity we always eat it within a couple of days. I hope you can convince your mum to get started on it.

  5. oh my gosh this is gorgeous!
where can I find this pattern/magazine??
I desperately need to make this for Christmas!

    Thanks for sharing!

  6. That is a mother of a gingerbread house!! How funny, today i bought 3 new sets of cookie cutters from Essential Ingredient in Manuka ACT for those visiting Canberra, it’s the best shop in town!! Had to get Halloween ones for our massive party this weekend, plus a set of traditional Gingerbread family shapes & Christmas ones too. All up, super happy & apart from needing kilos of flour, sugar & butter to make the cute little shapes, they’ll look ace!! Love Posie – as usual, on the same page as the Retros!!

  7. It’s beautiful ! Don’t suppose you could make me one too ? LOL !

  8. too cute Corrie! I hope that you give it a try, I would love to see it for real.

  9. Oh how fantastic is that! I have only just begun to crochet so think I might be up to the level of making that in 10 years! xxx

  10. yep I think it is totally worth a try….

  11. That looks lovely ! It would make a great decoration !

I haven’t made anything significant lately using crochet but this has convinced me I need to find some time between now and Christmas to make it!
While out shopping this morning I picked up a copy of crochet today at the newsagency for $10.95!
Can’t wait to start and thanks so much for sharing!
