I’m baaaaaaaaaaaaaaack

Oh thank goodness! I’m back but now my keyboard is playing up, time for a new computer I think! My house is still spotless,so spotless that this morning retro daddy told me it was immaculate…..this is rare for midweek with no visitors expected! Going forward I’m going to try my bestest to limit my online time (well I’ll try).

Apart from being on my hands and knees to clean my floors, I’ve also been crocheting! I’ve even managed to create my own little hat pattern when I realised I had no pattern for what I wanted the little girls in my life to be wearing this winter. I followed the trial and error method of pattern design and wasted (oops I mean spent) an entire saturday night trying to work out the right sizing and stitches and had nothing to show for it but unravelled wool and frustration. I’m a knitter and we knitters make our hats from the bottom up but crochet requires going top down! Anyway, I made a hat that was just the right size for barbie and figured I’d done something wrong but we’re all good now.

I also whipped up some little flower hair elastics when I couldn’t work out how to make flowers with complicated instructions. I am amazed that I can do it myself because I’ve always been the one to buy lots of patterns but shock horror I can do it all on my own!!!!

So moral of the story….turn off your computer and get busy! Oh and I’m hoping to put some of these babies on madeit over the weekend……

  1. Those hats are gorgeous – I especially love the sage green with the pink trim. I’ve just learnt to crochet myself and I’m really enjoying it – so different from knitting though.

  2. Corrie I love those hats I might need to buy 2 from you, although my two have big heads.

  3. love it, they all look gorgeous!

  4. Glad that you are back! It’s a wonder that we can get anything done with so many awesome things to find on the computer. Hard to find that right balance, but there are just so many distractions!!!!

  5. Glad your back, sharing what you’re up to! Those hats are lovely! I know what you meant about limiting your time on the computer!

  6. Those hats are very pretty Corrie, perhaps I need to take your advice and limit my computer time. I love those hair elastics, might have to pop on over later and take a little look.

  7. Wow, clever you! Such a beautiful collection of pretty hats. Wouldn’t we all love one of those! Good on you.

  8. Very pretty! Funny thing, I can crochet, but can’t follow a pattern for the life of me – I’m a knitter through and through, much easier to follow a pattern and write one too…

I really would like to figure a crocheted flower out… your’s look so pretty!

  9. Welcome back! Amazing what you can achieve with no computer. Really like the hair ties! Very Darwin, no need for the cute hats here xox

  10. Wow, very clever of you inventing your own patterns. Any chance you can come and clean my house????

  11. These hats are just sooo beautiful.

  12. Oh, and I meant to say, “Welcome back.”

  13. Those hats are lovely. Well done writing your own pattern, that takes patience! I’m more of a knitter too, so I wouldn’t know where to start. Are you going to post the pattern?

  14. They’re fantastic Corrie!! You must bring a couple to the next Craft Room, I’d love to see them and those elastics are genius.

  15. Corrie, those crochet flowers are cute! Last week I followed a couple of patterns to make something similar. I work better with pictures and diagrams. Crochet pattern language is tricky esp when everyone has their own terminology! I need to try a crochet hat, I kind of started one the other day just fiddling around. Your colours are lovely!

  16. Gorgeous hats and damn it my daughter walked past just as I was looking and now she wants one with a green flower! Off to scour Ravelry.

  17. Glad to see your back. Those hats are fantastic! Good work on doing your own pattern. Are you going to do any boyish beanies? Hamish has a freakishly big head…

  18. Those hats are gorgeous!!!I tried sooo hard to learn to crochet so I could make these hats for my daughter (I’m a huge hat fan…my girl owns over 50 hats and she’s 2). I just couldn’t get the crocheting thing down, I wish I could, but it’s just not something I enjoy all that much…so I’ll have to find a new way to get them…lol! You did a great job!!
