Not just ‘another sewing book’

Today I received this great book in the post! oh how I do love it! I had resisted purchasing it as I have way too many books already and feel like I buy every good crafty book that comes out…..but once I started seeing the projects I knew I had to have it. So it arrived this morning and once my little ones were down for their afternoon nap and Tinkerbell was in the DVD player…I started making the summer blouse pattern. This is before I slip stitched the front….so as not to reveal too much of myself!

A few boo boo’s along the way like making the neckline wider but forgetting to adjust it at the bottom of the placket but it meant I got to make a cute little pleat. I also made wider bias tape than was necessary and attached it differently but it still turned out great considering this was my dummy run made in cheap cotton from my stash before I made it in a nicer fabric.

and I actually kept it on for the rest of the afternoon and night as its so comfy and perfect for wearing around the house or for when I have to pop out and still want to look nice. Here I am testing it out with Tillie….I now see how tired I look at the end of a day running around after my three….and can you tell I’m growing my hair out…it seems to be taking f-o-r-e-v-e-r!!!!

So if you only buy one book this year then Heather’s book really is fabulous because there are so many patterns you’ll want to make!

  1. hi just love the top:-)I was wondering what sizes the pattern comes in in the book. Would love to buy the book and have a go.

  2. Top looks fabulous. I am just working on a vintage butterick pattern I picked up at an op shop, with some thrifted materials. Hope it turns out as well as yours

  3. Teek

the sizes are S,M and L with the small bust of 36inches, M of 39 and L of 42 inches…I’m smaller than a small but I like the fit! hope that helps you!

    Corrie:)

  4. I admit to hardly ever making anything from the craft books I buy. So I’ve been resisting, but I agree as pics started to pop up on blogs. I’ve felt tempted. I went to get it last week, but the book depository was out of stock. I may check out fishpond. oh and measure my bust to check it will fit.

  5. Corrie your top is so lovely, just like you!! and the quilt is gorgeous. I feel tired just reading about what you manage to get done with 3 little treasures at home!! I don’t even have the energy to make some easter stuff at the moment and my girls are 10 (almost) and 16!!!

  6. I bought this as well and I’m making the tote bag at the moment. So easy and quick. Just perfect for two evenings worth of sewing. Your top looks great. Have a look at Heather’s blog she has some corrections for quite a few of the items including some for the top.

  7. The top looks great on you. I have been resisting but I think I might have to get the book too.

  8. oh lovely! That book looks wonderful :)

  9. You and Tilly just look so sweet together. It makes me realise too how petite you are. I love the top, it looks so nice on you. What fabric are you going to use for the next one.

  10. That looks great – love the pleat. You are so right this is such a great book.

  11. Thanks for the measurements. It helps grately.

  12. Corrie you are bad. I have been looking at this book for ages, seeing all the great stuff everywhere from it but resisting the urge to buy it. Now it looks like I am going to have to, although I might take a peek at yours first.

  13. Oops I meant greatly!!

  14. Omg, super cute! You look so skinny.
